Bachelor Project Artificial Intelligence
Individual research project concluding the AI bachelor: literature review, applied AI research, thesis, and oral presentation.
Learning objectives
After completing this course, the student: has demonstrated its individual ability to apply knowledge from at least one of the key areas of Artificial Intelligence (Apply knowledge and understanding) to a relevant problem, resulting in a tangible outcome; has demonstrated an analytical and critical way of thought and its ability to apply logical reasoning, with clear identification of assumptions and conclusions (Making judgements) (Apply knowledge and understanding); has shown to be able to manage one's own learning and development, including time management and organizational skills (Apply knowledge and understanding); has shown its competence in searching and critically processing professional literature in Artificial Intelligence (Making judgements) (Lifelong learning skills) has learned to present and communicate the results obtained during the project; (Communication) has reflected on its own style of thought and working methods (Lifelong learning skills);
The Bachelor Project is meant as a conclusion of AI bachelor studies. Each student will select a project based on available topics and supervisors. If the student works on the thesis according to the standard timeline, the student can select from an assortment of topics offered by the department, or do a project within a company. If the student finds a suitable supervisor, it is also possible to suggest an own topic. Part of the project consists of the study and review of literature. The Bachelor Project AI is concluded with an individual report/thesis.
Assessment
Grading is done via a rubric available on Canvas. evaluation of student work (50%) final report (40%) final oral presentation (10%)
Teaching methods
After an orientation meeting, the student selects a supervisor and a topic. The work, carried out on individual basis, results in a written report (thesis) and an oral poster presentation at the annual AI Bachelor Seminar.
Prerequisites
Students can only enroll for the Bachelor Project Artificial Intelligence XB_40002 after obtaining 6 ECs for the course Introduction to Python Program XB_0145 (or the previous course XB_0082).
